Mysuru Dasara 2026: 11 to 21 October

Mysuru City Police welcome you to the 2026 Dasara. Check this page every morning for road closures, parking and timings. In an emergency dial 112; for help during the festival call the Dasara control room on 1077 (24 hours, free).

Jumboo Savari on 21 Oct: city-centre roads close to private vehicles from 11 am

Closed from 11 am: Sayyaji Rao Road from K R Circle to Bannimantap (the procession route), Albert Victor Road and the Palace ring roads, Ashoka Road and Dhanwantri Road around Devaraja Market, and B N Road from the Central Bus Stand to K R Circle. Two-wheelers are stopped at the same checkpoints. Emergency vehicles, festival shuttles and resident pass holders are allowed. Nandi Dhwaja puja is around 1:36 pm and the procession leaves the Palace after the 4:10 pm pushparchane. Watch free along Sayyaji Rao Road; arrive by 1 pm with water and a hat.

Inauguration at Chamundi Hill, 11 Oct, 11:50 am

The festival opens at the Chamundeshwari Temple. Expect restricted traffic on the hill road through the morning; use KSRTC buses from the city bus stand or the 1,000 steps. Visitors without passes may enter the temple after the ceremony.

Palace illumination every evening, 7 to 10 pm

Amba Vilas Palace is lit from 7 to 10 pm from 11 to 21 October, with cultural programmes on the Palace stage from 5 pm. Sayyaji Rao Road gets crowded after 6 pm: park at Oval Grounds or Maharaja College Grounds and walk, or take the free shuttle.

Aahara Mela at Maharaja's College Ground, 11 to 25 Oct

The food festival is open 11 am to 10 pm with free entry, and cards and UPI are accepted at stalls. Parking at Maharaja College Grounds, JLB Road (₹50 car, ₹20 two-wheeler).

Fruit and Flower Show at Kuppanna Park, 11 to 21 Oct

Open 9 am to 9 pm near the railway station; entry is free. Weekend evenings are the busiest, so come in the morning with children.

Heritage walks and tonga rides from Town Hall, 15 to 17 Oct, 7 am

Short traffic holds around Town Hall and Chamaraja Road between 7 and 9 am while groups move through the old city. Park at Scouts & Guides, Chamaraja Road.

Drone show at Bannimantap, 17 to 21 Oct, 8 pm

Entry by ticket (₹1,000) from the official tickets page only. Personal drones remain banned across the city; anyone flying one near the venue will be stopped. Park at the Bannimantap hub.

Kambala buffalo races near VTU College, 18 and 19 Oct

Races start at 9 am. Expect heavy traffic on the approach road from 8 am; follow police diversions and park only in the marked area.

Torchlight Parade at Bannimantap, 20 and 21 Oct, 7 pm

Gallery entry by ticket or pass (₹1,500). Gates open in the afternoon; fireworks around 9 pm. Large bags are not allowed. After the show, leave by the marked exits and use the shuttles from the Bannimantap hub.

Free festival shuttle from 12 parking hubs

Shuttles run every 10 minutes, 9 am to 11 pm, to the Palace, Bannimantap, the Exhibition and Kuppanna Park. Free with any Dasara ticket, ₹20 otherwise. Parking is ₹50 per car and ₹20 per two-wheeler; the University (Manasagangotri) and Ring Road (Bogadi Road) hubs are free. See Explore for directions to every hub.

Lost a child or belongings? Lost & Found desks

For a missing child, tell the nearest police officer or call 112 immediately; every police post is radio-linked to the control room. For lost items, go to the desk at Palace North Gate (9 am to 11 pm) or, on 21 Oct, at Bannimantap, or call 1077.

Mysuru is a no-drone zone during Dasara

Flying drones anywhere in the city is prohibited throughout the festival. Media organisations need a police permit through the Dasara press desk. Drones will be seized and the operator booked.

Beware of fake tickets and touts

Gold Card, procession gallery, Torchlight Parade and drone show tickets are sold only through the official tickets page. Collect them with photo ID before the event. Report touts at any police post or on 1077.

Medical camps and help for senior citizens and wheelchair users

Four staffed medical camps with ambulances are at the Palace, Bannimantap, the Exhibition grounds and Chamundi Hill; dial 108 for an ambulance. Reserved ground-level enclosures, priority queues and low-floor shuttles are available: call 1077 in advance.
